Menopause / Hot Flash Protocol

Menopause happens because your ovaries simply run out of eggs. Women first experience perimenopause, having fewer eggs available means you ovulate irregularly until finally stopping altogether, thus menopause. Having both ovulatory and anovulatory periods can cause our levels of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone to fluctuate. It’s these rapidly changing hormones that can lead to the classic menopausal symptoms we all recognize, like hot flushes and night sweats.

Hot flashes and night sweats are a common and a very uncomfortable part of perimenopause and menopause and is caused by estrogen imbalance. It is sometimes hard to find a natural and effective treatment but we have a combination of supplements that can help alleviate menopausal symptoms and is backed by science!

Here’s What to Take and Why

Rhaponic Rhubarb

Why should I take it?

Siberian rhubarb extract offers a natural approach for women seeking menopausal relief with a non-hormonal option and has been shown to alleviate 11 menopause symptoms by as much as 83% in human studies.(1) It has been used successfully in Germany since 1993.

Research shows that Siberian rhubarb extract has similar effects on temperature control as estradiol, the main form of natural estrogen. The difference is in its impact on ER-alpha and ER-beta.

Compared to estradiol, Siberian rhubarb extract had much greater selective ER-beta impact on genes in the animals’ hypothalamus, where temperature regulation and other processes are governed.2,3 It had very little impact on ER-alpha receptors, confirming previous lab work.

The true test came in using the plant extract on real women experiencing real menopause symptoms. Siberian rhubarb extract passed that test with flying colors.

EVN Recommends:

  • Estrovera

Estrovera’s key ingredient, ERr731, has been used safely and effectively for over 20 years and is supported by clinical studies. Estrovera provides relief for multiple menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, sleep disturbances, mood swings, irritability, anxiety, and sexual problems.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Why should I take it?

Omega 3 Fatty Acids can help balance mood and reduce hot flashes. Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid that serves as a building block for hormone production and we do not make these essential fatty acids in our body. We must get them from our diet and/or through supplementation. Fatty acids also play a role in hormone transport and communication which helps keep our hormones in proper balance and function.

EVN Recommends:

  • Orthomega® 820

Orthomega® 820 is a high-concentration fish oil sourced from waters off the Chilean coast. As the world’s least industrialized coastline, these cold, fresh waters provide the cleanest, most sustainable source of fish in the world. Orthomega® provides 820 mg of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) per soft gel as natural triglycerides, the preferred form with superior absorption.

I3C and DIM

Why should I take it?

Estrogen collectively refers to the female hormones estradiol, estrone and estriol. Hormones have important functions in every area of the body. They are chemical messengers that interact with cells all over the body (especially tissues that are more sensitive to them, including breast and prostate tissues). The most important message they deliver to cells is to grow, divide and multiply. For this reason, hormones are critically important in human development and tissue repair. Supporting proper estrogen synthesis, metabolism and detoxification is essential for proper hormonal balance. By keeping hormones in balance and ensuring the body is able to process hormones properly, cruciferous vegetable metabolites (such as I3C and DIM) work together to reduce hormone overload and maintain cellular health.

EVN Recommends:

  • CDG EstroDIM

CDG EstroDIM is a targeted supplement that combines the synergistic benefits of the cruciferous vegetable metabolites Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) and diindolylmethane (DIM) to support proper estrogen metabolism. Formulating I3C and DIM together creates the ideal combination of beneficial metabolites to support estrogen balance and breast and prostate health.
